Arrived at 4pm as instructed, considering you have to vacate the premises at 10am you would expect the place to be clean. Well it wasn't, on arrival we opened the front door to be greeted by sand on the carpets and a toe nail on the floor, the kitchen, particularly the oven hadn''t been cleaned. Called NB Holiday homes and the cleaning manager was promptly called out, she was very apologetic and fixed what we saw were the immediate issues (which took her about an hour and a half).
As the week went on it became apparent this place was cleaned as quickly as possible and there was dust on all surfaces as well as just a general feeling of the property being left uncared for. We didn't even get a follow up call from NB holiday homes which given how unhappy we were on arrival was very disappointing. They clearly only care about profit and not clients.
There is no welcome booklet on arrival, Or any instructions left for the appliances including the central heating, no spare light bulbs, no iron, no ironing board. We stayed at Craigleith Lodge, the house itself is big enough for a small family and in a great location for the beach, it's a little run down but really good overall. Just be aware though it is right next door to the Old Hoose public house so it's noisy on the evenings and drunks argue/hang around outside the front door and there's a lot of noise loading barrels in the evenings late after closing. Maybe we were just unlucky but given Covid expecting a clean property doesn't seem too much to ask when you arrive at a property for a holiday.

Fabulous well organised business who put your mind at ease, by being fully aware of the current pandemic and restrictions that impact on renting holiday accommodation. They give an honest appraisal, warts and all, of each accommodation that you ask them about so you know the quality, decoration, condition and actual location before you rent. They are the only company I would use for holiday accommodation in this area, having stayed in 4 of their properties over the past 5 years. Like an excellent restaurant, once you have tried it you don't want to eat anywhere else.

My daughter, grandchildren and I recently stayed at Bay View apartment. We had a fabulous time, we knew when we booked (late, therefore limited availability of homes) that there were steps up to the apartment, but any slight difficulties this caused i.e. with the baby buggy - were eliminated by the location, access to the beach and wonderful views.
We were lucky to have good weather and didn't really use the lounge. Nice little touch on arrival - bottle of wine and some Scottish shortbread! well stocked kitchen, good facilities and equipment. seconds away from the beach and under a minute to the high street! Perfect - we've booked with North Berwick Holiday Homes again for next year.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!Terrible truly terrible service! We booked a supposedly dog friendly cottage called Driftwood?! We ended up in something resembling student flat accommodation. The beds had sand in them! I had to strip all the beds and clean them at 5pm! It took 10 minutes to open the door as the lock was dodgy, there was not even a toilet roll!
The cutlery and plates were filthy. The communal concrete corridor to the flats was dingy and the door squeaked day and night. I opened the curtains in the bedroom and they fell of the rail and landed on top of me! Total disgrace! I called the company and they did not answer my calls. I went into the office and I was basically told tuff! I am horrified at the service we have received and the total lack of interest. The village itself is stunning and very friendly. After talking to some people they have a truly dreadful reputation! Oh and the vacuum does not work next to a beach!

We stayed in Tusculum this past summer. The location was superb, located near the golf course and a few blocks away from shops and restaurants. Views from the windows were amazing. We loved the light, breezy atmosphere of the apartment. Huge bedrooms, comfortable beds, great kitchen and actually 1 full and 1 half bath (only advertised as a 1 bathroom). Lot's of light.
It was wonderful staying here. On the downside, the rental company was not the easiest to deal with. The locks were changed a few days before and we were not given the correct set of keys. After several tries of calling the various phone numbers that were given, we did get a hold of someone who pretty much told us we were using the key incorrectly.
After a hour of waiting, someone did show up and determine it was the wrong set of keys. Another wait after that for the correct set, we were finally in. Not something you want to deal with after flying overnight and taking the train in from Edinburgh with a cranky child. Another visit to their office for a question about the internet provided another rude(ish) encounter. Customer service definitely needs improvement.

I absolutely love this team!- I have trusted my holiday dreams to them for years- no matter the last minute rush or the chance of a late weekend break, they have always found me brilliant and first class places to stay. they are prompt, uber helpful, charming and funny too. They really take time getting to know what you like - and then they let you get on with it.
I am not just saying this - I cant recommend them highly enough to find just what you want. The area around North Berwick is truly beautiful - the only downside of doing of review like this is that other people may go now : Marvellous people

This is the second year we've stayed at Bass Rock View. The apartment itself is extremely comfortable and very well-equipped. It's had a makeover and the new bathroom is a treat. What makes it an idyllic holiday home, however, is its location and its view. Situated in the heart of North Berwick it has amazing views of, guess what, the Bass Rock. It's a 2 minute walk to the beach & High St, the golf courses, the harbour & the seabird centre where you can take a boat trip out to the Bass Rock.
We enjoyed a brisk sea! Fantastic for kids & adults. We ate at the Lobster Shack and The Ship Inn where you can find very delicious food at a very reasonable price. It's a romantic location and my husband and I enjoyed the most wonderful holiday again this year and we were very sad to leave. Hopefully we'll be back again soon. Sue Napier, July 2013
