Midwinter Koval is the longest established property letting agency in the region and also the largest, with over 500 properties under management. The three directors are also the founders of the company and are still actively involved in the day to day running of the business. This involvement extends to all aspects of the business from landlords' accounts to arranging repairs.

We are the only agency where all viewings for prospective tenants are carried out by the directors. We look after properties throughout North Devon for Landlords with one or two properties and for others with investment portfolios.

Tenants Report

When you have a viewing, you will meet a director of the company and he will be able to answer or find the answer to any query that you have. We will explain your obligations regarding the tenancy and very importantly our obligations to you. At the time of making an application for a property, prospective tenants will be asked to pay the equivalent of one week's rental as a holding deposit, which will be carried forward as part payment of the main deposit paid at the start of the tenancy, as long as the application is successful or refunded to the tenant if the landlord doesn't wish to let.

We give honest advice to enable you to get the best price for your property in a reasonable time. Equally importantly we will give you regular feedback on the progress of your sale. Nice smelling coffee aromas will always help but also get rid of any unpleasant smells particularly from cooking. We have been successfully selling property since 1989 both in Barnstaple and throughout North Devon.

Awful, so rude in the fact they NEVER return your calls. I called so many times about a property, they were supposed to have called me back on several occasions, didn't expect to keep chasing. Very unprofessional in my opinion and feel let down and disappointed.

I rent from these managing agents, and although they always inspect every 6 months (which should reassure landlords) they are very polite and quick to respond to problems

Very bad experience. I don't leave negative reviews but I feel this place really deserves one. Only rated One star because the Manager + most staff were polite & the lady who dealt with us was lovely. But unfortunately the man I spoke to at the end of our tenancy was horrible and genuinely upset me. I also work in a customer service environment and would never be caught dead speaking to a customer with that attitude. Lived in a mouldy, damp, cold house whilst pregnant!

Despite many problems with this house they weren't helpful because they didn't really want to take responsibility for it. Ive rented before with a different estate agent and never had any trouble like I had with mid winter. Even knowing about our awful experience they still took a big chunk of our deposit for pathetic & petty reasons. We were made an example of because we are young and more inexperienced than others. In the end we wasted ALOT of money & went through ALOT of stress. Never again

Rude, never get back to you when asked, forever chasing them up. Also tenant we rented out to was very unhappy with them, had a few problems which we didn't know about until after he'd left even though they knew about it, would definitely not recommend these people

Disgusting. Incompetent. Rude. These people failed to do the basic pre-tenancy inventory checks on the property I was letting. They also appeared to not do any checks on potential tenants. The people who they let in just didn't seem very sympatico to village life. They seemed like they might be better suited to London. They turned out fine, but they reported that the agents sent them angry letters telling them to always have heating on and windows open.

The agent shouted at them saying "WE WOULD NEVER BE SO RUDE AS TO SHOUT AT ANYONE!". One of the directors even started telling them about his divorce! When it got to the end of the tenancy, when the tenants could have had me over a barrel for the lack of inventory the old man from midkoval turned up late and sweaty and was outrageously rude, talking to the tenants like they were scum. AVOID AVOID AVOID
