If you are separated from the mother of your children, they live with her and you don't get on with her forget this school. There is no recognition given to any of your rights as a father or indeed parental responsibility as defined in British law. According to the school the mother owns the children and any concession that is made to you will have to be fought for. This is my experience and I have pretty much given up.

I understand all of your concern for the students lack of respect towards the Chinese teacher but what do you expect! Of they came to your childs school they'd most likely be just as bad. The chinese school programme reviews are indeed very biased. Everyone is silly and of course being of TV was in fact an exciting turn for them all, ending in more misbehavourous attitude.
Personally I am benefitting from the school and I am going to be a year 8 as of Septemeber 2018. As we get older we lose respect for teachers and other staff members leading to unfortunate consequences. However the lower school, as many of us can agree, is much more civilused and behaved. Many thanks

I think it was really a bold attempt to compare the teaching methods of Britain and that of China. Both the Chinese teachers and the Bohunt School is indeed worth being respected for their efforts. But in my opinion, Chinese traditional teaching ways and British ways just like chalk and cheese. The forming and application of Chinese teaching ways is due to the culture of Confucian and the lack of educational facilities in most areas of China.
And the goal of Chinese education is getting high score instead of cultivating imagination, creativity thinking or critical thinking. Personally, I prefer British way which gives more freedom and spaces to students.

After having watched the BBC programme - I have to say, the comments made by Headteacher of Bohunt School about his guests were horrendous. The behaviour and total lack of respect for the Chinese teachers from the pupils was embarrassing enough to watch as a British-born citizen, but the Headteacher's comments were the icing on the cake. What an awful example of Britain's attitude towards those who try to help us achieve the very best we can within our education.
I take my hat off to the Chinese teachers for what they had to deal with. The pupils knowingly acted in a disrespectful manner and have in turn embarrassed themselves, as well as the UK by acting as a terrible example of what this country stands for.

After watching two episodes of the BBC series I feel that Bohunt students have really let their school down. I mean yes, I get that every class has disruptive pupils but to see a whole class descend into total anarchy was just shocking. If the lesson is boring then fair enough, don't contribute but to disrespect the teacher by slamming books or arguing back is just something else.
Their ethos is "Bohunt is a dynamic learning community whose ethos is encapsulated by three simple words: enjoy, respect, achieve." As I cannot justify any comment on enjoying or achieving I believe I have seen enough to know that respect is non existent.no wonder so many teachers from the UK all go to China to teach. I personally think it is quite admirable that the Chinese teachers hold the capability to teach their lessons in more than one language.

I would like to say that people who wrote the previous comments beginning with "having watched 2 episodes of the BBC series", should finish the series before voicing their opinion. The headmaster acted in a way that was honest with respect to his grounds and tried his best to remain impartial till the end. His open attitude and foresight for doing this social experiment is also very much applauded.
The way that the students had acted was normal given their circumstances, and should be viewed as valuable data for this experiment. At the end of the day, it was never about winning or losing but about facilitating discussion on different educational methods, and Bohunt and BBC have done so very gracefully.

After watching this disgraceful school, I feel as if the so called "top achieving" students are really what they are. The headteachers even acted like despicable low lives when they gave their opinion on the Chinese peoples's teaching. See if you can teach in two languages. It's not easy, even for a fluent but not native speaker. The british environment around them has a large impact on the student's lives including the ATTITUDES OF THE SENIOR STAFF.
