We look after properties in Witney, Banbury, Bicester, Swindon and Aylesbury, but we don't need a branch in every town. Gatekeeper staff work together, sharing knowledge in one central office. Our local teams maintain a focus on their areas by getting out to visit more properties and speak to more customers than traditional agents.
Gatekeeper was born 11 years ago with four founders, all aiming to deliver a fresh way to buy, sell, let and rent property. Ultimately that means putting people first. We've always felt that if our customers are happy, the business will grow. The business continues to thrive and our teams now cover Witney, Aylesbury, Swindon, Banbury and Bicester.
Patrick set up Gatekeeper back in 2003, he had always wanted to run his own business and felt the property market was in need of a far more customer focused approach than was being offered. Patrick's own background includes working for a diverse number of companies including Comet, BAA and Phones4U where he learned to combine the skills of delivering good customer service backed up by robust back of house processes. I am passionate about delivering excellent customer service in a market that is ever changing and becoming more demanding.
Over the last 25 years, we have established great relationships with our purchasers, listening to what they want from their local estate agent, and as a result have developed a comprehensive service tailored to fit your needs. Very good agency. Everything you need to know explained, very efficient and easy to work with. Communication is very good. Pricing is very competitive to others on the market, worth using and would definitely suggest others use their services. Recently I had some issues with the tenant, which required a little diplomacy to resolve; gatekeeper went out of their way to resolve the issue with the tenant which was a relief to both the landlord and tenant.

PLENTY OF FAKE REVIEWS! Avoid at all cost or it will literally be your cost. Check out the real independent reviews as well they generally score VERY badly (I wish I'd checked), if you ignore the blatantly fake reviews. In my case I found a property to rent and put the money down to take it off the market and secure it (as they described it). I got a phone call less than an hour later to say they wanted more money and this put it outside my budget.
They said the money I put down was non-refundable and tried to push me in to another property or lose my 150. I have lodged a complaint with the Ombudsman and Office of Fair Trading and passed the issue to a solicitor friend to deal with. Try Finders keepers or Chancellors. They have been much better to deal with and more professional and not welched on the deal.

Gatekeeper were wonderful when my husband and I were looking for somewhere to buy in Oxfordshire. Very efficient, kept us updated with text and email confirmations for viewings, and Hazel was wonderful when showing us around. Having bought through Gatekeeper for the first time recently, we were very impressed and grateful for their hard work, professionalism and approach. Phil at gatekeeper came recommended to us and we can see exactly why. If we ever sell he will be the first man we speak to. I have to say I am very impressed with the service the team has offered. I seldom leave reviews but credit where it is due. The local sales team have been fantastic in arranging viewings and sorting answers to questions and the central team have been great sorting paperwork and check in.
Questions about rent payments and maintenance have also been dealt with seamlessly. Well done all

I have 2 properties in different towns with Gatekeeper which I rent out. Both the local teams and central office team are exceptionally customer focused. Unfortunately, due to relocating for work I have to move out but I would like to thank the property Care team for being brilliant over my time in the property. so glad my landlord has switched to Gatekeeper,.. Gatekeeper was in FULL contact with me from day1, i have had a full inspection and they have taken notes of the problems. Tom done the inspection and took the notes, within the week he has arranged to get 2 of them looked at by contractors. always communicating by phone or email to keep me up dated.

Really poor property care team, seriously incompetent. A failure from start to finish really, the house wasn’t cleaned to a professional standard when we moved in, the landlords junk still left in the garage and Stanley blades dotted around the house left behind from the carpet fitters. Numerous appliances stopped working in 7 months, the gas job being one of them which took 6 weeks to replace due to the fact they “never received my emails”.
I had proof they were sent but they still insisted they never received them. Upon moving out they have hammered me on my deposit for some very basic wear and tear and some paint marks that weren’t even me!! They also deducted money from me for things that weren’t clean when I moved in so I’m left them untouched. Unsurprisingly the check out report they send contains no photo’s only descriptions and heavy cost reductions from your deposit, I tried to dispute some and asked for proof of it being done before I moved in but instead they just submitted me a final offer email for exactly the same amount they tried to deduct in the first place. Also, they are still trying to charge renewal fees after June 2019. All in all a complete cowboy outfit, don’t waste your time.

We rented a house in Swindon through Gatekeeper. We have just bought our first home and we just wanted to say thanks because the team couldn't have been more helpful during a stressful time! They made sure we knew what we had to do throughout the whole process of checking out and while we were in the house (just over a year), we only had a couple of things that needed work and Gatekeeper got maintenance people out quickly to fix them for us.
When they needed to come to the house for viewings, we always got a text and an email to let us know what was happening and when we had friends over they understood and rearranged viewings around us. We would definitely recommend them - we've rented through lots of agents in the Area and we both felt that Gatekeeper has the best service and has thought about what tenants need.

As a Landlord I cant speak highly enough of both the Swindon Team and the Head Office. I mange my property myself but they always give me great advice about the market and pricing for rent reviews etc and its easy to get deposits returned etc. The online Log In for Landlords lets me see the status of everything 24-7 which is great as I work shifts.

The service and advice I have received has been excellent from start to finish.
Mat was always available to answer my questions even at weekends. I was a bit worried about selling my mothers property but it has been very simple and easy. I would definitely recommend Gatekeeper. I could not be more happy with the service I've received.

Gatekeeper are full of totally inadequate staff that operate like their job is to make you as dissatisfied as possible. Could never get a decent answer from any queries (always being made to an 0845 number so you are charged to chase up every time). Had 3 different Property Managers equally as useless as the last, never having any communication between each other or an idea at what goes on.
Also be warned, we received information from another letting agency that Gatekeeper only allow you 6 month leases so that you can 'work out if you want to stay long term' but this is actually common practice so that they can charge renewal fees. You have been warned!!

Unfortunately I had the misfortune of renting out a property from Gatekeepers in Chain Court, Old Town, Swindon. The problem started from first viewing when the gatekeeper agent lied to about damp marks on the walls. We were told they were historic issues and had been fixed however a few days after we moved in we realised that the wall had mould growing on it.
Six months ahead, after countless number of visits from supposedly damp experts and a large hole in the wall to investigate the issue, nothing has been done yet. Me and my wife are both developed breathing problems and my numerous tries to get released from the contract have failed on the basis that the damp issue is under investigation and there is nothing else the landlord can do about it.
We are forced to sleep in the lounge of a two bedroom flat because both bedroom are in unliveable conditions due to exposure to mould. Furthermore when we moved in the bed in the second bedroom was broken. On contacting gatekeepers, rather then apologising the landlord sent a message through them to say I allow the tenants to buy their own bed however they will have to store the broken bed in the property and put it back up when they leave.
After a few heated arguments they agreed to replace the bed, a month after we moved in. There have been numerous other issues in the 5 months we have been in the property ranging from washing machine breaking down, mould in kitchen cabinets to finding used razor blades behind the toilet sink from previous tenants. I am not sure how they are with other tenants but from this experience I would not recommend gatekeeper to anyone and would advise any prospective tenants to contact current tenants about behaviour of the landlord with tenants.
I would like to advice all estate agents specially gatekeepers that they should be more mindful of tenants rather than just being a landlord's agent. Tenants are the ones who suffer from any problems with the property. The landlord and estate agents should appreciate that any delays in rectifying these issues have a huge impact on their standard of living especially issues that can impact tenant's health e.g. Mould. At the end of the day tenants are your customers and you have no business if you have no tenants.
